FAQs
Get answers to your questions about choosing, wearing and caring for HD Make Hair wigs, toppers and extensions.
1. What is the difference between a wig, a topper and an extension?
A wig offers full coverage and lets you change the cut, color and length of your look. A topper complements your own hair, adding volume and coverage in areas such as the crown and the part. An extension adds length, volume or a detail to your hairstyle, such as bangs, a ponytail or a bun.

2. How do I choose the right product and color for me?
Think about what you want: to completely change your look, cover an area with thinning hair, or add volume and length.
For extensions and toppers, look for a color close to the hair that will remain visible. With a wig, you are free to keep your usual shade or try a new one. Check the references on the product page and, for help, send our team photos of your hair in natural light, without filters, telling us the result you are looking for.
3. How do I put on a wig? Do I need glue or to shave my head?
There is no need to shave your hair. Tuck your hair under the piece, securing longer hair without creating excess bulk. A suitable wig cap can help.
Hold the wig by the sides with the label facing back, place the front along your hairline and settle it at the nape. Center it using the side tabs and adjust the inner straps, when available, for a secure and comfortable fit.
The wig stays in place thanks to the fit of the cap and the piece’s adjustments. We do not offer gluing or sewing services in store.
4. How are toppers attached? Do they work for people with thin hair?
Toppers are attached to your own hair with silicone-lined snap clips. To remove a topper, open all the clips before lifting the piece.
You need enough hair at the attachment points to support the topper. The right choice depends on the area that needs coverage and where these points are. Our team can help you find out whether a topper meets your needs or whether a wig is a better fit.

5. Can I use a flat iron, curling iron or hair dryer?
It depends on the fiber of your piece. Tru2Life and Kanekalon Excelle withstand heat up to 180 °C (356 °F); High Heat Hair withstands up to 130 °C (266 °F), with its own styling procedure. Flexlite and Vibralite cannot be used with heat styling tools.
Check the fiber in the product description and follow its instructions for preparation, heat protection and cooling. Never style the wig while wearing it. If you are not sure which fiber you have, check with our team before applying heat.
6. How do I wash and dry my wig or extension?
For pieces made with human-like fiber, use cold water and specific products, such as Wig Perfeita Shampoo and Conditioner. Follow the amounts and times indicated in the piece’s instructions.
Wash gently, without rubbing or wringing, and rinse thoroughly. Remove excess water by pressing with a clean towel. The wig should air-dry on a ventilated stand that lets air circulate — not on a styrofoam head. Extensions should follow the drying instructions for their construction.
7. How do I detangle and store my piece?
Detangle gently, starting at the ends and working your way up little by little, without pulling the base or the lace. Use your fingers or the comb or brush recommended for the texture. For curly and wavy pieces, it is best to arrange the dry hair with your fingers to preserve its shape.
Store the piece completely dry and detangled on a suitable stand, away from humidity and excessive heat. For travel, place it in the satin bag without folding or crushing the lace.
8. How long does a wig, topper or extension last?
Durability varies according to the fiber, how often it is worn and how it is cared for. As a reference, wigs and toppers have an estimated average lifespan of 6 to 12 months; extensions and hairpieces, from 6 months to 1 year or more.
Proper washing, gentle detangling and correct storage help preserve your piece. These periods are usage estimates and do not correspond to the warranty period.
